The call for entries for the Lexus Design Award 2015 competition has 6 days left before it closes so make sure you get your design in and applications filled to participate in this lucrative contest.

The contest is open to professionals, students and design enthusiasts worldwide.

Lexus are offering this award, now in it’s third year, to support the next generation of innovators who produce “Design” that enriches our world.

There will be four “Prototype Winners” selected to each receive a mentorship by an reknowned professional to work on developing a model of their design proposal, plus a ‘Trip Prize‘ to Milan, Italy during Milan Design Week 2015 — taking place between 14-19 April, 2015.

The organizers welcome designers from all fields: architecture, product design, fashion and are looking for “Design” that goes beyond the mastery of shape, form and function, and becomes a process and solution to overcome challenges.

The theme for the 2015 competition is “Senses“ as explained by Mark Templin, the Lexus International Executive Vice President

Senses are intrinsic to life: they are what allow us to perceive the world. Taking this purposefully broad theme, considering seeing, hearing, feeling, smelling and tasting, we open ourselves up to a wide range of possibilities.
This theme is particularly relevant to Lexus, as the whole driving experience is about senses: from seeing the striking exterior design of our cars, to hearing the sound of our finely tuned engines and feeling the sensation of our steering wheel when you round a corner. Everything is engaged. By considering this array of examples we seek to appeal to our customers’ senses in an ever-unique manner.
The Lexus Design Award has always chosen themes that encourage broad thinking. Senses takes this a step further, being a theme that we hope will lead to responses that explore the five senses in pioneering ways.
