FASHION SCOUT ANNOUNCES ONES TO WATCH DESIGNERS FOR SS15.
Fashion Scout is one of the UK’s largest fashion showcases for emerging and established design talent and a prominent fixture among the Paris showrooms.
Now in it’s eighteenth season Fashion Scout has become known as one of the first places to see emerging fashion designers from UK and international schools. Their Ones To Watch award provides the selected emerging designers with a platform to showcase their work and to develop their business internationally.
The new designers chosen for the SS15 edition are :
Angel Chen graduated from Central Saint Martins with a Bachelor of Arts degree this year.
Her final collection “Les Noces (The Wedding)” was in the top five of the final selected graduates and received coverage by international fashion press iD magazine, Vogue UK as well as The Times and The Evening standard.
Her collection ‘Les Noces’, was noted for it’s refreshing, spirited designs, bold use of colours in a mixture of fabrics and designed with eccentric character. Angel Chen went on to launch her own label in China in a presentation sponsored by Sony, showing her first Ready to Wear collection SS2015 ‘The Rite of Spring’ in Shanghai Fashion week.
J Moon is the recently launched Womenswear Label founded by Jay Jinhee Moon who graduated from The London College of Fashion this year.
Jinhee graduated from the London College of Fashion this year and her bizarre aesthetic was recognised at the London College BA Press Show, where she was named the winner of ‘The Best Directional Use of Colour & Textile Award’.
It was this experimental aesthetic and her playful testing of established boundaries that won her a place on Fashion Scout’s One’s To Watch Award for AW2015/16. Jinhee Moon will present her debut collection as a brand; J MOON at Fashion Scout London.
Minju Kim graduated from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp with a Masters and in 2013 was awarded the H&M Design Award.
Her designs combine extreme curves, peplums, exaggerated shapes and an array of textures and her collections are already stocked in Opening Ceremony in New York, Los Angeles and London, the South Korean born designer has also been shortlisted for the LVMH prize and collaborated with Disney to re-imagine the aesthetic of Minnie Mouse.
Australian designer Kim Stevenson is a graduate of University of East London and showcased her collection at Graduate Fashion Week this year. Her designs focus on ethically sourced textiles and the art of hand weaving elements of different cultures and city environments that create sub culture style. She aims to work within a company that values ethical textile production and works towards creating innovative solutions in production that involve handcraft.
“For AW15/16 we have had the strongest ever response of amazing new talent from all over the globe, after a tough decision we are excited to be able to provide an unrivalled opportunity for these four new international designers to present with Fashion Scout.”
