Fashion Scout, the international showcase for fashion innovation, has announced the emerging designers they’ve chosen to represent in the SS15 “Ones To Watch” category as Cassandra Verity Green, Keiko Nishiyama, Min Wu and Youjia Jin.
The Ones to Watch show is a globally important platform for up and coming talent and always one of the most anticipated shows of the season.
Previous winners of the category include David Longshaw, Eudon Choi, Kirsty Ward and Phoebe English.
This season’s judges for the Ones To Watch show are Hilary Alexander, Robert Cavell-Clarke of Not Just A Label, Judith Tolley of CFE London, Fashion Scout alumni Phoebe English, Ones to Watch stylist Rebekah Roy, and Martyn Roberts Fashion Scout’s director.
The Ones To Watch provides a platform for emerging designers to take part in a collaborative showcase, this also includes an exhibition space at the event for each of the designers. The event is designed to help develop business internationally and has been created to generate maximum media and buyer attendance. The event is held at the iconic Freemasons Hall, Covent Garden, from 12th – 16th September being Fashion Scout’s 18th season during London Fashion Week.
Cassandra Verity Green’s body of work takes direct inspiration from personal experiences, emotions and memories and intertwined with innocence. Since graduating from Central Saint Martins in 2013 she has gained sponsorship from Spinexpo and Santoni Shanghai and featured in the likes of Dazed and Confuzed and Hunger.
Japanese born, Keiko Nishiyama graduated from MA fashion design at London College of Fashion in 2013, where her graduate collection was also showcased at London Fashion Week in the same year. Her designs play with imbalance and drafted from delicate hand-drawn prints. Keiko’s work has caught the attention of such publications as i-D Magazine and Fashion156, as well as bloggers Susie Bubble and DisneyRollerGirl. Keiko will also be joining Fashion Scout for an exhibition in Paris.
Min Wu designs her collections with a bold modern woman in mind, with interlacing lines and fluid shapes to create strong visual contrasts. She has gained much success in her short career including a place in Fashion Scout’s internationally acclaimed graduate showcase back in September 2013. Wu continues to explore the original beauty that is born from the deliberate combination of functional materials, with particular emphasis on technology and the reflection of this in the world today. Min will also be joining Fashion Scout for an exhibition in Paris.
Youjia Jin, fashion designer and buyer graduated with an MA in Womenswear from the London College Of Fashion this year. Her previous education includes Central Saint Martins and the Beijing Institute of Fashion and Technology. Although she has specialised in womenswear, she was awarded a top 10 menswear designer award in China. Her previous collections have received huge praise from top UK and international publications including British Vogue, British GQ, i-D and iLOOK Magazine.
September 2014 will be Fashion Scout’s 18th season during London Fashion Week. Featuring a selection of innovative UK and international designers, Fashion Scout will be hosting over 25 catwalk shows, salon shows and presentations.
The event takes place from 12th – 16th September 2014 in Fashion Scout’s permanent location, Freemasons Hall in Covent Garden. A fitting location, it’s only a couple of minutes walk from the home of London Fashion Week, Somerset House.
