Fashion students at ESMOD Berlin have been selected as the winners of a competition to design the clothing collection for the German Pavilion staff at Expo 2015 by a panel of judges consisting of the Commissioner General of the German Pavilion and representatives from the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, the pavilion management team and Messe Frankfurt.
The competition called upon second-year students to prove their creativity using, in addition to fashion aspects, the sustainability of materials and production techniques used. Their winning designs will be presented during Fashion week in the Greenshowroom’s salon show on July 9 and the will be worn over six months by the 250 staff of the German Pavilion in Milan.
Dietmar Schmitz, Commissioner General of the German Pavilion and Head of the Division for Trade Fair Policy and Expo Participations at the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, says the student’s designs were chosen because of their “…sustainable clothing collection ( that ) underlines … the creative and innovative image of Germany which the German Pavilion at Expo 2015 in Milan will represent.”
ESMOD Berlin is a relatively new part of ESMOD International, a group of 21 fashion schools based in 14 countries, and offers a BA in Fashion Design and Pattern Making/Draping, an MA in Sustainability in Fashion and three summer courses in Stilism and Modelism.
