NEW CFDA AWARD AND IT’S NOT FOR DESIGNERS…

This year the Council of Fashion Designers of America add a new prize to the famous CFDA Awards. In recognition of the relevance of fashion blogging photography on Instagram, the Fashion Instagrammer of the Year award, will reward the best among eight users of the social network.

For their prize the winning photographer will not be on stage to receive an award, instead they will be given the job of photographing the entire event. During the ceremony they will represent the association, act as correspondent on Instagram and document every moment in front of and behind the scenes on the social network. The prize is a novelty not only because it rewards a sub-segment of fashion, but also for the voting of this award to be in the hands of the public. “It is precisely for this reason that the CFDA have chosen Instagram… the democratic approach is the leitmotif of this initiative, “said Kevin Systrom , CEO of Instagram.

According to Steven Kolb , Executive Director of CFDA, Instagram was chosen from among the other social networks because it helped the CFDA to intercept the emerging trends among users.

The eight nominees who were chosen by a panel of judges including Rachel Zoe, Stephanie Max from The Coveteur and The Editorialist‘s Stefania Allen and Kate Davidson Hudson are @donalddrawbertson, @dapperlou,@aguynamedpatrick, @paridust, @troprouge, @amy_stone, @hokaytokay and @bessnyc4 .
