In 2012 the young designer Julian David won the Grand Prix at the Andam Awards in Paris. His collection was an eclectic mix of formal and leisure-wear and won him the prize of €230.000 and a mentorship for two consecutive seasons by Pierre-Yves Roussel.
Julien was a student of the Parsons School of Design and graduated in 2003. He then went to work for Narciso Rodriguez and Ralph Lauren where he gained his industry knowledge before launching his own label, Julien David, in Japan in 2008. His label started out making neo-classical printed scarves before growing to create his first capsule collection in the Ready-to-wear category for Spring/Summer 2011.
His latest show at Paris fashion week shows how he has progressed his style in terms of tailoring and shaping while keeping some of his signature elements, the sweatband in particular is a returning favourite.
