There is a new scholarship program available at Central Saint Martins for students wishing to undertake the MA in Fashion Design course and it’s a particularly special one as the funding comes from Rolling Stone Mick Jagger.
Sir Mick was the partner of the famous model-turned-fashion designer, L’Wren Scott who took her own life in March last year.
The American born designer will be remembered by the fashion world for the elegance she carried in her person and her work. The funding is a token of Jagger’s wish to keep the memory of L’Wren and her life’s work alive in a legacy with the famous fashion school where she had been
“impressed with Louise’s commitment to excellence and her dedication to fashion education.”
In a statement on Friday, a spokesperson for the college said that Scott and Professor Louise Wilson, the late course director of the MA fashion program, who also passed away last year, had met at the British Fashion Awards.
The three year scholarship program, which begins for the upcoming academic year starting October 2015, will fund one MA student per year the full cost of their fees for the two-year course and a contribution to their living expenses.
Central Saint Martins’ Masters course in Fashion Design is a world renowned course that has grown it’s sterling reputation as a leader in Fashion Design studies over more than thirty years and is the only course that shows at London Fashion Week on the official London Fashion Week schedule.
